Finding a way to say thank you....

A couple of months ago we had the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Superbowl at face value. $900 a ticket!!! Crazy, right??? But it is the Superbowl so we had to get them. The tickets we wound up getting were wheelchair tickets. One seat and one space for a wheel chair. From the day we found out we got the tickets Dave said that he wanted to take an injured soldier with him to the game. Then we got the tickets. They were on the field...just behind the Colts bench. Wow!!

Dave has been so busy over the past month with work that he did not even have time to think about the game. He has literally been working 20 hours a day to get this new company up and running. Some days I barely get to talk to him. He even thought about selling the tickets because he was too busy to go. So it was not until Friday, 2 days before the game, that he finally got to swing into action. He googled it online and contacted Shopping for Soldiers and told them what he wanted to do. I think the Founder was a little bit shocked. Dave told him that he wanted to take an injured soldier, someone he had never met, to the Superbowl. Neil, the Founder and Director, was so thrilled about this. He said he struggles to get people to take the soldiers to the movies. So you can imagine how excited he was about this.

He made a few phone calls and called Dave back. He found a Army E4 Specialist that was injured in Iraq that wanted to go. The guy has never even been to an NFL game. And I can tell you that he will be disappointed if he ever goes to another one. You really cannot top field tickets to the Superbowl. Dave spent all day yesterday making the arrangements to make this happen.

So as I write this Dave is on his way to Miami to pick up the soldier. I will have an update with pictures tomorrow. And if you are watching the game today look for them on TV. Dave was already contacted by Fox and CBS about doing interviews. He wants to bring attention to programs like Shopping for Soldiers to encourage others to do things like this. These men and women fight and put their lives on the line for us....people they have never met. I cannot imagine the things the have seen and experienced. We should all be grateful for them. I think that it is great that there are programs like this out there. You should look to see if there is one in your town...take an injured soldier to a movie!!! It's the least we can do.

Stay tuned for more info.
