Adventures in Shopping

I was not one of those crazy early morning shoppers this year. I am sorry but I will not camp out in line for 12 hours to save $100…never gonna happen. Plus that is mostly on electronics and I never seem to need electronics this time of year. Anyways… I left the house around 8am to go to Millenia. I stopped in Best Buy for 5 minutes to look for a mount for the new tv I have in the bedroom. They had them advertised for $29.99 but the cheapest one in the store was $129. Major fail Best Buy! When I got to the mall the parking lot was practically empty. I was a little worried at first. But then I realized that crazy bargain shoppers don’t shop at the Millenia Mall. This is the more upscale mall in Orlando anchored by Macys, Neiman’s and Bloomingdales. But there were some deals to be had. I found a few great door busters at Macy’s. Gymboree had a great sale. Too bad all the Mom’s that shop there are morons. I had to wait in line for 30 minutes to check out and there were only 8 people in front of me. Every one of them walked up to the counted with 10 plus items all in sizes they did not want. So they had to have the cashier go to the back and look for the correct sizes. Do you lose all common sense when you have a kid??? There were 2 other employees dedicated to helping people on the sales floor. Why could you ask them for help? I almost walked out but I had already dedicated so much time and I was not leaving without the outfit I picked out.

I was severely disappointed with the Gap sale this year. Last year they had 50% off until noon. This year it was just a random discount here and there. I was not impressed. Ann Taylor Loft had 50% off everything. But there were 200 people in line to check out. Not worth it…plus I am supposed to be buying gifts for other people and not me. I got a few things at Old Navy. They had some great deals. Ulta also had some good deals and I had a coupon. And I did get a couple of fabulous toys at Toys R Us.

After all this I went home for nap. Later that evening my friend Natalie picked me up to the outlet mall. She really wanted to purchase her first designer purse. Kate Spade had the entire outlet 40% off. It was very hard to not buy something. Most everything was already 20% off and then another 40% after that. Juicy had 30% off everything too. And then another $25 off every $150 you spend. They had the cutest winter coats! Natalie was set on a Coach bag. I don’t think she was impressed with Kate Spade and Juicy. She is more a classic style girls. I think things bold and girly. There was a line outside of Coach…seriously… a line. And there was no one in the store. After a 20 minute wait they finally let us in. Natalie was not allowed to leave without a purchase. She got a great deals on a purse and matching wallet. I still don’t get the line. The store was empty. There were six cashiers waiting to help us when we went to pay. There was no one in line to check out. They had to have lost business doing this. What was the point? Maybe they were worried about shoplifters. I don’t get it. But Coach just lost some credibility with me. I am not sure I will be back there anytime soon.
