Valentines Day

I am really not a fan of hot pink teddy bears. That is just tacky. And I don’t like boxes of chocolate unless they are Godiva. I do love flowers but they are so over priced around Valentine’s Day. Going out to dinner on that night is a pain as well. You have to make a reservation 2 months in advance and then still have to wait for a table. Then everyone is in red and acting all lovey dovey and that makes me nauseous. But I do still believe in celebrating Valentine’s Day…I promise I do.

I like to do a nice dinner at home. You know…one that Dave cooks and cleans up after. I don’t care what it is as long as I don’t have to make it or clean it. I skip the gym and he does not work. We both stay home, eat dinner and watch a movie. That is my kind of Valentine’s Day.

This year we are going away that weekend before to a surprise location. I planned it. It is booked. We can drive there so no flight is needed. It is going to be super fun. I have all sorts of planning to do. I am debating telling him where we are going so he can help me plan. Because if I plan the wrong thing he is going to cause a scene…a Diamond Dave scene. But I kind of want it to be a surprise. But as soon as we get in the car he will figure it out so should I tell him or not? Actually he would not know for sure until we get there. There are lots of places we could be going when traveling in this particular direction. But then I doubt he will let me drive because he will want to take the Porsche. And we all know I still (after 6 years) cannot drive that stupid thing. So it will be hard for him to drive without knowing where we are going. It will just be me saying turn here, turn there. I am way to indecisive on this one.

Now since I am planning our Valentine’s Day getaway Dave should plan our anniversary getaway. We did NYC last year and that was lots of fun. This year is our 5th anniversary. I am kind of thinking we should go back to the Bahamas since we got married there. But Guana Cay is so difficult to get to. Maybe we could 3 or so nights in Nassau or somewhere easy to get to. He does have friends there. I bet they have some connections for hotels. And Jet Blue has direct flights. Just a thought…

This is my first Valentine's Day with a Valentine and he is gone due to military training. Have fun on your surprise weekend adventure!

So I know it's a little bit of a drive...but were having a Tampa bloggers meet up Friday 1/27 (a week from this Friday) at 7pm. Would you want to come?

I say keep it a secret. Let him bitch & moan and cause a scene if he must, but it'll be more fun if he doesn't know! :) And I love the idea of y'all going back to where you were married for your 5 yr anniversary!
