Happy Black Friday

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We ate too much, took a nap and went to bed. It was fabulous. We attempted to shop today. Dad bought a microwave and an HDMI cable. I bought 2 pairs of jeans and a sweater. We are bad holiday shoppers. We only bought things for ourselves. I did get my skinny fat jeans. Oddly enough they are a size 2 and my skinny skinny jeans are a size 4. I guess there is a big difference in sizes in designer jeans and Old Navy jeans. Anyways...I am wearing my big sweater and furry boots right now! Yay!!! I will have more detailed updates later...with pictures. Don't get too excited. We must now go and feed the pregnant one before she passes out...and no that is not me.

Thanksgiving

It is almost here.

I have been trying to pack for 24 hours now. And if it were up to me I would simply take my closet as my carry on. How can I be expected to pick out one outfit a day in advance? I nearly had a panic attack when I could not find my big furry boots last night. But I did find them...hiding on the top shelf of the closet. And while searching I found a Chanel bag I forgot I had. It will also be joining me on the trip to Nashville. I have also realized that if I am going to pull off the skinny jeans and furry boots I have to not eat for 24 hours ahead of time or run on the treadmill for a couple of hours. The likelihood of either one of those things happening over Thanksgiving is slim to none. But I packing the skinny jeans and my running shoes...because I have to eat...cookies and cake and pie...for breakfast...its Thanksgiving!! I hear Old Navy will have all of their jeans on sale for $15 on Friday. If I eat too much I will buy a cheap pair of skinny jeans in a bigger size...I'll call them my skinny fat jeans.

Next I will have to help Dave pack. I am not even sure that he knows we are leaving tomorrow. He is not allowed to wear skinny jeans...nobody wants to see that.

Cannot stop laughing.....

Remember the Oregon Trail???

Fun Gift Idea

In my quest to find unique Christmas gifts I came across this website for 80's tee shirts. How fun is that?? I thought I would get the family each their own Shirt Tales shirt. I get to be Pammy!!! Or how about a Bayside Tigers shirt from Saved by the Bell??
Or we can stick to the holiday theme with a shirt from Dave's favorite Christmas movie.

Or my favorite Christmas movie!!

You must check out the site. They have so much to choose from and most are only $20-$24 each.

3...2...1

Did you see this when you looked up at the sky this afternoon? I did. Well, maybe not this close but I could still see it from the parking lot of my work and that is pretty cool.

In 10 days....

We will be on a plane to Nashville to celebrate Thanksgiving!!! Yay Nashville!!!

I am ready for some cooler weather. It was in the 80's again today. I got to lay out by the pool for a bit. The water was icy cold so I did not get in. I just laid next to the pool. I tried to layout outside of the screen but I had a close encounter with a wasp, hornet, bee and spider. And given my recent experiences with insect stings I was not taking any chances. There are so many critters that live in my yard!!! The crazy squirrel was back again today. He was barking up a storm at the kitties. I kind of wish the owl would come back. He scared away all the other critters....including the kitties.

Is it too early to start packing for TN? My sweaters and furry boots need to be dusted off.

The Mall...

I had more coupons then I knew what to do with this morning....30% off at Gap, Old Navy & Banana Republic, $30 off at Express, $45 of at NY & Company, Buy 2 get 2 free at Yankee Candle, $10 off at Bath and Body Works....I think that was it. Anyways...I decided to go to the mall. I decided to pass my usual Mall at Millenia and go to the Florida Mall. That is the only place that has NY & Company close to me. That is my favorite place to buy work clothes.

I have decided that I hate the Florida Mall. First of all no one knows how to drive in the mall parking lot. I am pretty sure that every mall parking lot in America is set up the same way...when entering the parking lot there is no stop sign....but there is one when you leave. Why do people stop when there is no stop sign??? Do they want me to hit them??? I think they do. I also wonder why people hesitate when driving in the mall parking lot. Just go when it is your turn to go. If you hesitate you loose your turn instantly. These people really annoy me.

For some reason everyone in Orlando was at the Florida Mall today. I had to wait in line for 20-30 minutes at every store!!! I thought people were not spending money? The recession must be over based on what I witnessed today.

I was there for a very long time and I never got to use my NY & Company coupons. And it was not for lack of trying. After standing in line for 30 minutes I could not take it anymore. And that was the only store that is not at Millenia that I went to today. So I could have avoided the Florida Mall. My coupon expires tomorrow. I think I am going to have to try again tomorrow. Stupid coupons...why can't I just throw you away? I was so irritated when I left that I did not even stop in H&M...and that is a shopping tragedy. There is something purple and rufflely waiting for me there.

I also went to Old Time Pottery to stock up on new Christmas decorations and gift wrapping supplies. They lady in front of me had 200 items....ornaments to exact...all individually packaged. Any idea as to how long that took?? I love to go to Old Time pottery for gift bags during the holidays. They are like $.0.29 each and so cute. But I was about ready to start throwing my gift bags at the lady in front of me.

That's it....I am done bargain shopping....tomorrow you can find me at Bloomingdales. All of my friends and family might be sharing one Christmas present but it will be a beautiful Fendi handbag that I don't have to wait in line for. I will let each of you carry it for 1 week. I think that it will look especially good on Dave.

Dear Santa....

I want this...
And they sell it at Michael Kors in the Millenia Mall. It is upstairs next to Dior. I know you know where Dior is. And it is only $208!! That is a steal compared to the purses you have gotten my in the past. See...I am being economical.

Are they talking about you??

I found the following article on CNN.com today. I was laughing hysterically while reading it. I had to post it. But I thought I would add my own comments for your entertainment.

Here are 12 of the most annoying types of Facebook users:

The Let-Me-Tell-You-Every-Detail-of-My-Day Bore. "I'm waking up." "I had Wheaties for breakfast." "I'm bored at work." "I'm stuck in traffic." You're kidding! How fascinating! No moment is too mundane for some people to broadcast unsolicited to the world. Just because you have 432 Facebook friends doesn't mean we all want to know when you're waiting for the bus.

I had to block someone because they did this. It was someone I have not seen in 15 years who had a status update every 10 minutes about something so boring I cannot even tell you what it was. I like the occasional random comment. It makes me laugh. But once a day is plenty for me.

The Self-Promoter. OK, so we've probably all posted at least once about some achievement. And sure, maybe your friends really do want to read the fascinating article you wrote about beet farming. But when almost EVERY update is a link to your blog, your poetry reading, your 10k results or your art show, you sound like a bragger or a self-centered careerist.

I like to put links to blog on Facebook. But mostly when it involves lots of pictures or something I think will make people laugh. I hate, hate, hate it when people brag non stop on Facebook. If something good happens to you that is fabulous. Post it....once. Don't post on your page and then find a way to mention it as a comment on everyone else's updates for the next 3 days even when their status updates have nothing to do with it. This just leads me to think you are over compensating for something that is terribly wrong in your life. When people only talk about material things it leads me to think that is all they have going for them. And that is just sad.

The Friend-Padder. The average Facebook user has 120 friends on the site. Schmoozers and social butterflies -- you know, the ones who make lifelong pals on the subway -- might reasonably have 300 or 400. But 1,000 "friends?" Unless you're George Clooney or just won the lottery, no one has that many. That's just showing off.

1000 friends....really??? Tell me a something personal about each of them and I will let this slide.

The Town Crier. "Michael Jackson is dead!!!" You heard it from me first! Me, and the 213,000 other people who all saw it on TMZ. These Matt Drudge wannabes are the reason many of us learn of breaking news not from TV or news sites but from online social networks. In their rush to trumpet the news, these people also spread rumors, half-truths and innuendo. No, Jeff Goldblum did not plunge to his death from a New Zealand cliff.

I so know this person!!! But I won't name names. I never post these updates but I do love to comment on them. Maybe these people have nothing else to write about and this makes them feel important. On a side note...the shooting that happened here in Orlando last week....I first heard about it on Twitter from Perez Hilton....he is in LA and it was happening just down the road from me. So maybe I need these people to keep me in the loop. I am okay with this one.

The TMIer. "Brad is heading to Walgreens to buy something for these pesky hemorrhoids." Boundaries of privacy and decorum don't seem to exist for these too-much-information updaters, who unabashedly offer up details about their sex lives, marital troubles and bodily functions. Thanks for sharing.

None of my friends do this....thank goodness!!

The Bad Grammarian. "So sad about Fara Fauset but Im so gladd its friday yippe". Yes, I know the punctuation rules are different in the digital world. And, no, no one likes a spelling-Nazi schoolmarm. But you sound like a moron.

This might be me. I might be the moron. Sometimes I cannot spell my own name.

The Sympathy-Baiter. "Barbara is feeling sad today." "Man, am I glad that's over." "Jim could really use some good news about now." Like anglers hunting for fish, these sad sacks cast out their hooks -- baited with vague tales of woe -- in the hopes of landing concerned responses. Genuine bad news is one thing, but these manipulative posts are just pleas for attention.

I so know this person too!!! Unfortunately I almost always fall for it and leave a comment. Maybe I just really care about people. I feel that much worse for them when they have to post the bad news on Facebook and can't just pick up the phone and call a friend or family member to talk about it. Call me...I will talk to you.

The Lurker. The Peeping Toms of Facebook, these voyeurs are too cautious, or maybe too lazy, to update their status or write on your wall. But once in a while, you'll be talking to them and they'll mention something you posted, so you know they're on your page, hiding in the shadows. It's just a little creepy.

I am just going to pretend this person does not exist.

The Crank. These curmudgeons, like the trolls who spew hate in blog comments, never met something they couldn't complain about. "Carl isn't really that impressed with idiots who don't realize how idiotic they are." [Actual status update.] Keep spreading the love.

Yep, I know this person as well. I am especially sickened when people post negative comments about people they encounter at work when they work at a non profit that deals with terminally sick people. It just makes me ill.

The Paparazzo. Ever visit your Facebook page and discover that someone's posted a photo of you from last weekend's party -- a photo you didn't authorize and haven't even seen? You'd really rather not have to explain to your mom why you were leering like a drunken hyena and French-kissing a bottle of Jagermeister.

My crazy photo days are long gone...maybe I should not say that. Something from my past may come back to haunt me. I do however post crazy pictures of other people...uh oh...maybe this is me too!! I will have to not do this so much.

The Obscurist. "If not now then when?" "You'll see..." "Grist for the mill." "John is, small world." "Dave thought he was immune, but no. No, he is not." [Actual status updates, all.] Sorry, but you're not being mysterious -- just nonsensical.

I don't really have issues with this one. I think this person may just be sending a message to certain people without divulging to much info. I am okay with that.

The Chronic Inviter. "Support my cause. Sign my petition. Play Mafia Wars with me. Which 'Star Trek' character are you? Here are the 'Top 5 cars I have personally owned.' Here are '25 Things About Me.' Here's a drink. What drink are you? We're related! I took the 'What President Are You?' quiz and found out I'm Millard Fillmore! What president are you?"

This one annoys me oh so much. I am not even going to mention Farmville in fear of offending people. But lets just say that these things are not my cup of tea....unless you catch me on a day when I am really bored.

Another one I am going to throw in this category is asking for donations. You are raising money for cause.....good for you. Post it once or twice. But 5 times a day, everyday for 2 weeks. Too much!!! Now I just think you are tacky. Now is not the time to pester people over and over for donations. You ask me once or twice and I don't donate....maybe I am the one that needs donations.

You probably mean well, but stop. Just stop. I don't care what president I am -- can't we simply be friends? Now excuse me while I go post the link to this story on my Facebook page.

Fun with Madison

On Sunday afternoon Michael, Dave's brother, and Madison, his daughter and our niece, came over for a visit. We love to have visitors on Sunday afternoon. Madison was great entertainment and she kept all 3 of us busy. Our house is lacking in the kids entertainment department. So we had to work with what we had. She quickly found the kitties' pirate ship and tried to get in it. That did not last long. She could not figure out how to get her whole self in it. So she moved on the a roll of wrapping paper...until Dave tried to take it away from her.

And back to the pirate ship....
Then she took a spin in the chair.
And back to the pirate ship...she was determined to figure this one out.
Maybe Dave can entertain her for a bit.
Nope...lets bring back the wrapping paper.
Time for a bottle...I had to get in on this action.

We thought that would lead to a nap....nope....time to count the stairs. Who knew that a 2 year old counting stair could entertain 3 grown adults for a 1/2 hour.
After that she did take a nap. And that was the excitement of our Sunday afternoon. To be honest we very much enjoyed it. We had not seen Michael and Madison in 6 weeks so it was great to catch up.

When did this happen?

What is this world coming to??? Right now the worst insult you can give someone is to "defriend" the on Facebook. This makes me laugh. I have had a couple of run in's with these types of situations.

A little while ago a messy situation arose between two of my friends. I won't go into details. Somehow I got thrown in the middle. I am still not sure why. But my initial reaction was to go to Facebook and make sure the person who started it all was not posting mean things on my other friends page. The other friend being one of my best friends it is only natural for me to want to protect her from Facebook craziness. I log on only to find that the person who started it all had defriended me and my friend. I have never been so relieved in my life. I was just about to pick up the phone and tell my friend to defriend this person. And this was not a good time for her to be going through this. So I was so happy to not have to make that call. Later we all laughed and laughed about this. It is all just so silly. Since when did Facebook become such an important part of our social lives? I am very interested to see how this one plays out. Does defriending someone on Facebook mean that you are no longer friends in real life? Or does it mean that you are just in a bad situation with this person at this moment in time and need to step away for while? For me it is just stepping away until the situation works itself out. But that's just me....

The other situation involves someone else I have known my whole life. She has a crazy family member....and no it is not me. The crazy family member would friend her on Facebook only to display stalker like activity and then get mad and defriend her. If I remember this correctly I think she did this a few times. And then the crazy family member blocked her. Blocking....is that a bigger insult than just defriending??? I am still laughing about this one...are we all not 30 something years old??? Why don't we act like it??? Or is this how 30 something year olds act???

I actually read a few articles online about this. People are obsessive when it comes to how many friends they have on Facebook and how many followers they have on Twitter. If you have 1000+ friends on Facebook do you really know them all??? Do you judge yourself by how many online friends you have? 10 years ago you would have been laughed at and made fun of for such a thing. But today this is what people do. Do you know at any given time how many people are following you on Twitter? Do you get upset if someone stops following you? I heard there is a website out there where you can find out who stopped following you and see which tweet they read last that made them stop following you. I think it is called Quitter.com. That is stalker crazy!!! I block every other person that follows me because they are not real people. They are Twitter spam. That is a whole other topic.

BTW...I am not judging you if you do these things. I am just curious as to how people feel about their friends and followers.

I, for one, cannot tell you exactly how many friends I have on Facebook. Somewhere between 100-200. But I know them all...either personally or from the blog world. And to be honest sometimes I feel like I know more about my blogger friends than my real friends. Maybe one day I can meet all my blogger friends in person...how fun would that be??? I do love my blogger friends....I love my real life friends too. @FabulousAlly has maybe forty something followers. I don't know them all but that's okay. As long as they are not trying to sell me something or fall under the "adult" category I am okay with that. Twitter friends can be fun.

When I was in college we seriously made fun of anyone who had online friends. And now it is the cool thing to do. Time changes everything....

It was a Kim & Aden weekend

This weekend our very good friends Kim and Aden got married. It was a beautiful wedding!!
The festivities started on Friday night with the rehearsal dinner. It was at a great outdoor place in Winter Park called Hot Olives. The food was great. Kim had them serve conch fritters just for us. That is all we ate in the Bahamas when we were there for our wedding 2 years ago. We got her addicted.
Here is Natalie and Dave. Me, Jenny & Kim, the bride to be.

On Saturday we got all dressed up for the wedding.
The bride and groom just after being announced as husband and wife. Isn't she a gorgeous bride???
I loved the brides maids dresses....just look at the back of them.
The reception was very pink....loved it!!!
Time to get the party started....here comes the wine and champagne.
This is officially the worst picture of the night. Dave has his mouth full of food and Kim has her eyes closed.
Pretty, pretty brides maids.
On the dance floor...

Shake it Van!!!
Me, Kim and Natalie on the dance floor.

The wedding was a Park Plaza Gardens on Park Ave. It is a very cute little restaurant and hotel. There is a balcony that wraps all the way around it. This is where she threw her bouquet from.

Jenny was determined to catch that bouquet.

And she did.

After the reception we headed over to a local bar. There was no one there when we walked in. There was a guy playing the piano and the mood was very mellow. We brought the party with us including music by Britney, Miley, Beyonce and Rihanna. We turned it into a dance club. I think Dave is enjoying this.
Kim had hired us a limo to get around in for the rest of the night so we could go from bar to bar. The limo even drove us home all the way on the other side of town. We were so grateful that she did this. Otherwise we would have spent $50 on a cab ride home.
Dave and Aden were enjoying the limo ride more than the rest of us.
Natalie and I in the limo.

It was an amazing night. We loved every minute of it....right up until I started to fall asleep at the bar. I am not a late night person.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

We went to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios last night. This is one of my favorite things to do. They had 7 haunted houses....made by the people who make horror movies. So it is like you are really in the horror movie. It is gory, gross, violent and down right terrifying. And that is why I love it. They also have a couple of shows and and scares zones. And some of the regular rides are open too. Regular price is something like $80 a person. But Dave worked some magic and we got in for $17 each. When you live in Orlando you learn how to work the system.

The first house we went it was the Chucky House...as in Child's Play. I used to love those movies. Walking up to it I told Dave that I just knew that they would have midgets dressed up like Chucky. I was wrong!!! Chucky was about 6 feet tall. He pretty much jumped out from every corner of the house. I screamed every time. The whole house was filled with toys such as army men and good guy dolls. One room had the monkeys from the barrel of monkeys game hanging from the ceiling. There were tons of them. All of the sudden a huge, 6 foot tall, yellow monkey busted out of wall. We all wanted to scream but we looked at each other a burst into laughter. It was a 6 foot tall yellow monkey!!! I really wish I had gotten a picture but they threaten to kick you out if you take pictures inside any of the houses.

So we survived the good guy doll attack. The next house we went into was The Spawning. I don't know this movie. Something to do with a nuclear leak or aliens. I am pretty sure an alien peed on me from above. It really freaks me out when the people are above me and trying to grab me and it grosses me out when they use water to be alien pee. That is all I recall from that adventure.

Next up was the Saw house. Now I have never seen any of the Saw movies. I do love horror movies but I cannot stand to see anyone get cut. So I refuse to watch these movies. It was full of puppets and pig masks. I did not get it. But at one point I am pretty sure I saw a guy get his head cut off. And somehow I wound up in a room with eight doors and one of the pig men came out from everyone of them and surrounded me. I froze and Dave had to push me on to the next door.

Somehow I always got pushed to the front of our group. I was slow so the people in front of us were no where in sight. Dave would purposely stop just so that I would wind up in a room by myself. I would stop and close my eyes and think to myself "if I don't see it then it is not there" and then Dave would eventually show up and guide me out of the room. Sometimes I would scream because someone else in another room screamed. Dave would look at me and ask why. There was nothing there. And sometimes I screamed for no reason at all. It was just that scary.

After Saw we went to the Bill and Ted show. This show is hilarious. Bill and Ted have a new adventure every year with icons of Pop Culture and then they all dance randomly. This year involved the kids from Twilight, Lady Gaga, the new and old Star Trek people, Michael Jackson, GI Joe, Meghan Fox, and many others. There was a disclaimer at the beginning that that they would not talk about Octomom or John and Kate. That made me laugh.

From there went to the Frankenstein House. It was nothing special. The Wolfman House scared me though. You had to walk through the forest and the Wolfman would jump out from every corner. It was all set in the 1800's. Sometimes the scenery itself amazes me in these houses. Dracula's house freaked me out a little too. Those brides of Dracula would appear out of nowhere. They would even drop down through the ceiling. There were a lot of bodies lying around in that one. You never knew which ones were fake and which ones would jump up and chase you. Yes, they really chase you.

There was one scare zone the was pumped full of fog and zombies. The zombies love to jump out and scare you!!! We got a couple pictures with them.

It was a great night. It drizzled off and on all night. So we took shelter in the ladies room for a bit....even John took part in this. Can I tell you how many guys tried to walk right in only because they saw him standing in the doorway. It was pretty funny.

If you like to be scared you would love this event. It is not for kids though. I don't think there is an age limit but I would recommend 18 and up. There is a bar set up every 10 feet too. So it is definitely an adult event.

And now for some photos....

This is our self portrait at the entrance. Here is me tweeting in line at Dracula...Can you tell I am really trying to stay awake at this point. It was way past my bedtime.
Here we are with the zombie....not sure why I have a silly look on my face. May have something to do with the fact that the zombie who was just trying to attack me is now posing for a photo.
This guy is not yet a zombie...he was running from the zombies....I think he lost his car.

Here we are hanging out in the girls bathroom...trying to stay dry.
In line for the spawning.
Dave and John and some of their many beers.
That is all the photos I got...unfortunately they did allow photography in most of the attractions.

Oh the excitement....

Tomorrow kicks off a series of super busy, super fun days for me. It starts with dinner at the Melting Pot for breast cancer awareness....sponsored by Estee Lauder.....yay....free make up and cheese!!! Then we are off to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. Dave got us tickets for a great price!!!! When you live in a theme park infested town you learn how to do such things. I love HHN. It is like you are in a horror movie!!! I will take pictures to share this experience with you...if they allow cameras. I go every year and have never taken a single picture. I can't remember if that is because I just forgot to or if they don't let you. We will find out tomorrow night.

Friday is the rehearsal for Kim's wedding. I am reading in her wedding...last time I checked Dave was the one with the public speaking talent...not me. Maybe he can give me some tips. I am so excited to be a part of the wedding so I want it to be perfect. After that we are off to the rehearsal dinner. Those are always fun!!!

Saturday is the wedding. I love a good wedding....friends, celebrating, food, wine...what more do you need on a Saturday night???

Sunday I will take a nap.
